How he changed his life.....

These "kids" were viewed as troublemakers who would start fights anywhere - on school campus, out of school campus, even in the village. It seemed as if they would not stop fighting. Crossroads Theatre for Youth (CTY), a project of Intersections, Inc., was created to provide positive alternatives through the arts so that changes leading to better choices would take place in the process of learning drama and dance.

When Jeff (not his real name) joined the program, he was known to be a bully and one of the most violent students in school. He would start fights during lunch hour and even after school. Jeff would rally other boys to help him fight against other students. He's been suspended from school many times for fighting and violating other school rules.

In an assembly where project manager, Loso I'aulualo, shared of how alcohol and violence would affect the development of a young person, Jeff realized that he needed to turn his thinking and energy in doing something constructive. So he decided to join CTY.

Jeff discovered his love for music and dance and since the first day he started, he has learned to develop healthy relationships and socialize with other students---even those he once considered rivals have become his buddies. With the mentorship of the CTY staff, Jeff is now one of the junior leaders that recruits and assists staff members in training students that are new to the project.

More young people people will engage in violence until someone steps to the plate and does something about it.
